Even with no power kindergarten students managed to create some beautiful sculptures out of modeling clay. They learned the difference between shapes and 3d forms, and how to sculpt the forms. They also looked at this sculpture by Henry Moore. What do you think the sculpture is of? Answer below... The name of the Henry Moore sculpture is "Reclining Mother and Child".
Kindergarten students learned about different types of lines and listened to the story "Straight Line Wonder". They drew 3 horizontal and 3 vertical lines to create a wacky grid. Inside the grid they practiced different marker techniques like dots, thin lines, thick lines, squiggles, and textures. The next class students made a paper loom in the same color family (warm or cool) that they chose for the marker drawing. They wove their drawing into the loom to create a paper weaving. They also had to glue all of the ends down so the weaving would stay together. Here are some more students working on their weavings! Here are some finished projects!!
Kindergarten is learning about shapes! We watched a video which you can find in the art videos section. First they practiced cutting out triangles, circles, and ovals. Then they layered rectangular strips of tissue paper on top. They had fun painting with the glue!

The Kindergarten classroom hatched ducks this month. In art we painted wiggly lines with blue watercolor and then learned how to cut out shapes of a duck. We glued the ducks on top so they look like they are swimming away in the water!
Kindergartners are learning about spring! They stamped grass, and flowers with stems and leaves. They used found objects like spools, corks, and marker caps.
