5th graders used their initial to create illuminated letters. They learned about the elements of art and how to design without making it too complicated. They also learned about different fonts like roman, gothic, sanserif and italics.

Some students added beads and multiple colors of yarn to create things like apples, flowers, and fall leaves. Here are some of the finished products.
Fifth graders created a very detailed non-objective piece of artwork that required many steps and applied the elements of art and design. First was watercolor. Students used techniques such as splattering, blending, painting with water first, dry brush and blowing on a puddle of paint. Second was to cut apart the watercolor and glue it back down onto a longer sheet of paper. Next the 5th graders reconnected their watercolor drawing with pen and ink lines. Then the added textures in the new spaces between the watercolor panels.
2nd grade and 5th grade students have been painting landscapes. They learned how to layer paint and use a 3 step process to create textures and depth.
There is a lot going on in the art room this week! We have been painting reindeer, designing a holiday stamp, and learning some origami. I hope everyone has a fun and relaxing break! See you next year!
Kindergarten made Native American Vests to wear for their Thanksgiving Feast. They learned how to cut fringe and draw with symmetry.
5th grade used oil pastels to draw a cornucopia that shows what they are thankful for. There is also a display of 1st grade texture turkeys up in the art hall. |
