Sunday, October 5, 2014 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. McLean Central Park www.mpaart.org Come See Artwork by our students at MPAartfest— McLean’s only outdoor arts festival! • Stroll along the Children’s ArtWalk experience the work of budding young artists from our school and other McLean area schools. • Check out the mini-galleries in McLean Central Park filled with paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, photography and fine crafts by more than 50 regional artists, offered for sale. • Visit the new Hands-On Art Studio, where you will be immersed in the MPA ArtReach experience. Create your own artwork and add it to the Community Art “Quilt.” • Keep the beat with live musical performances by local professional musicians and community groups at the Gazebo all day long. • Treat yourself to delicious snacks from Lebanese Taverna, J. Gilbert's, Greenberry’s, Mama’s Donut Bites, Nourish Market, Naked Pizza and more! Enjoy a great day with your family outdoors! This weekend there is an arts festival in Clarendon. Not as kid friendly as McLean's of course, but still really cool. Saturday and Sunday from 10am-5pm. Free Admission. http://www.artfestival.com/Festivals/Arlington_Festival_of_the_Arts_Virginia.aspx Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade are all starting out with drawing projects this year. Third grade is learning how to draw a front face view, 4th is learning how to draw an entire body in proportion, and 5th grade is learning how to draw a profile face view.
This week all students in grades 2-6 are creating sketchbooks that they will use all year in the art room to brainstorm, sketch, reflect, and save worksheets in.
